The Meadowlands, N.J., company continues its commitment to the environment with a contribution to Trees for the Future.

Feb. 8, 2012, Secaucus, N.J. – IPS, a national leader in paperless document management solutions, continued its commitment to decreasing its carbon footprint and increasing awareness of environmental issues by making a sizeable donation to Trees for the Future.

IPS’ contribution will allow the organization to plant 5,000 fast-growing, permanent, beneficial trees in fragile, eroded lands around the world. The company has donated nearly 15,000 trees over the course of its partnership with Trees for the Future.

The company has donated nearly 15,000 trees over the course of its partnership with Trees for the Future.

Trees for the Future has been helping underserved communities plant trees since 1989. Through seed distribution, agroforestry training and country programs, Trees for the Future has empowered rural groups to restore tree cover to their lands, protecting the environment and helping preserve traditional livelihoods and culture for generations.

“At IPS, we’ve been leveraging paperless solutions to create cost savings and efficiencies for our clients for more than 20 years,” IPS president and CEO Greg Bartels said. “But we also recognize how important decreasing paper consumption is to our environment. Working with Trees for the Future is a natural progression of that philosophy. As responsible corporate citizens, giving back is simply the right thing to do – and helping the environment helps us all.”

Every 5,000 invoices processed by IPS equals one tree – which is capable of clearing the air of 250 kilograms of carbon dioxide.

Every year, enough paper is thrown away to form a 12-foot-high wall between New York and California.

More than 70 percent of pulp used in the paper industry comes from forest trees, rather than tree farms.

New system eliminates the problem of manually sorting through email attachments for business-critical information.

Nov. 28, 2011, Secaucus, N.J. – The error-prone, time-consuming process of manually extracting business-critical data from email attachments is history, thanks to a new automated email attachment processing system from IPS.

With the new solution, attachments in emails sent to IPS clients are automatically scanned for important information, which is instantly extracted and integrated into IPS’ revolutionary Digital Mailroom.

The days are gone when email recipients needed to download and open attachments, then find and type pertinent data by hand. With IPS’ new automated email attachment processing, attachments are efficiently reviewed, confirmed and incorporated into the same IPS workflow as documents that arrive via upload portal, U.S. mail, courier delivery, overnight mail, SFTP or fax. Once processed by the Digital Mailroom, IPS’ exclusive Intelligent Capture services then extracts and validates the information and creates an XML, EDI, or any other type of file.

“These days, more and more business-critical data, like invoices and applications, comes locked away in email attachments,” IPS CEO and President Greg Bartels said. “This is a real problem for recipients, who have to spend hours entering it into their system by hand. Our automated email attachment processing system gets the information where it needs to go quickly, efficiently and inexpensively.”

About IPS Digital Mailroom
IPS Digital Mailroom provides a streamlined, auditable mail process that eliminates lost or unaccounted for paper and electronic documents. The Digital Mailroom solution offers speed, cost and quality improvements in accounts payable, T&E processing, media billing and payables, member enrollments, insurance claims and arbitration, mortgage applications and more. IPS Digital Mailroom services are available on- or off-site, and can support receipt channels including P.O. Box, private courier, fax, email, electronic upload and SFTP.

About IPS
Founded in 1991, IPS enables clients to move from legacy, analog, document processes to innovative, 100% digital processes including document scanning, conversion, archiving and workflow with near-perfect 99.995% data accuracy.

IPS, a national leader in paperless solutions, today recognizes AIIM’s second annual Paper Free Day. The day encourages companies—especially those that rely heavily on paper in running their businesses—to avoid paper usage for a day.

For IPS every day is Paper-free day, having scanned and replaced over 1 billion pieces of paper in the last 3 decades for numerous Fortune 500 companies. IPS’s corporate mission is to enable companies to reduce or eliminate the need to copy and print paper by transforming daily paper transactions into predictable, streamlined, fully digital processes.

IPS helps businesses evolve by moving from legacy manual processes to 100% digital processes, one of which is the paperless office. Going paperless not only helps the environment, but also improves efficiency through the creation of better access to valuable information from across the organization.

This is especially salient as recent predictions estimate a tenfold increase in information available in the last five years. This increase in amounts of data undoubtedly leads to increases in paper usage and decreased organization and efficiency.

Last year, 57,000 people participated in Paper Free Day’s first run. To participate in Paper Free Day, AIIM recommends that businesses take three steps: first, conscientiously make a point not to print documents; second, investigate practices that reduce paper usage; and third, participate in or produce a local Paper Free Day event.

Donovan Data Systems and MediaBank announce plans to merge to form MediaOcean, the largest independent advertising technology company in the world.

NEW YORK and CHICAGO, September 25, 2011 – Donovan Data Systems (DDS) and MediaBank, two of the world’s best known advertising agency systems, today announced plans to merge, forming a new company to be called MediaOcean, with a mission to create a single, neutral and universal operating system (OS) for advertising technology. The new company will address dramatically changing industry needs at a critical juncture. Broad change caused by the movement to digital, fragmentation of audience, data, and technology—as well as the overarching trend of automation—are creating enormous challenges for the advertising ecosystem. Meanwhile, the software solutions needed to solve these mission-critical areas are becoming more complex. Finally, many companies trying to solve these problems are also selling advertising inventory, which may create conflicts.

An independent MediaOcean will continue to invest heavily in advancing its core applications, including national and local TV, print, out of home, and radio and digital, along with creative workflow management. DDS and MediaBank’s joint resources will develop a new, universal and fully open operating system for the advertising industry.

The mission to create the OS, called the MediaOcean OS Project, will encompass common standards, open platforms and universal APIs, to enable any agency, media seller or third party to seamlessly integrate with each other as well as with the MediaOcean systems. MediaOcean expects that the economies of scale from this merger will allow it to additionally invest in the building and supporting of new systems in the ever changing global market. This in turn will result in lower overall costs for MediaOcean clients. MediaOcean will be able to offer neutral, independent solutions to the entire ecosystem.

MediaOcean will be led by Michael Donovan, founder and chairman of Donovan Data Systems, as MediaOcean executive chairman; and Bill Wise, MediaBank CEO, as the new company’s CEO.

MediaOcean is focused on the industry worldwide. “Technology solutions must address the global advertising industry, enabling the coordination of technology across businesses, applications and data, media channels and geographic regions,” says Bill Wise. “Our goal is to give agencies the tools and control they need to realize their full value in a changing landscape, and to do so with complete transparency and neutrality.”

Michael Donovan, executive chairman of MediaOcean, is confident that the combined companies will enable clients to do their jobs effectively on a global scale. “The potential of the merger is enormous. It will enable the entire industry and inspire every advertising professional and system developer. It will empower agencies to embrace continuous change and keep their lead in a fast changing digital world—no matter what automation, digital media and new players in the advertising space may throw at them. After more than four decades in the media technology business, I can’t think of a more exciting next step.”

The merger is pending US government regulatory approval. LUMA Partners advised DDS on the deal.

About MediaOcean

MediaOcean will give the advertising industry the power over technology in a changing landscape. It will achieve this through the MediaOcean OS Project: a mission to empower buyers and sellers to configure any set of third-party technology tools into the precise stack of solutions they need. MediaOcean OS products will be global, neutral and open. MediaOcean also provides market leading media and creative workflow tools, born from the technology of Donovan Data Systems and MediaBank. MediaOcean has more than 800 employees in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, France and India. www.mediaocean.com.

Ken Congdon, editor in chief of Healthcare Technology Online, recently wrote an article, “Digitize Healthcare AP Processes,” where he speaks to Greg Bartels, president and CEO of IPS.

Greg Bartels, president and CEO of IPS, was consulted in the article. IPS has a wealth of experience in digitizing AP systems for hospitals and health care systems.

Congdon’s piece covers digitizing and streamlining accounts payable in hospitals. Congdon recommends leveraging a digital mailroom solution which would allow hospitals to centrally scan invoices as they enter the facility–eliminating the long, error-prone process of manually completing invoices, then routing them electronically for approval.

“Through integration of digital mailroom, intelligent capture, electronic workflow, and digital repository technologies, we’ve been able to cut the cost of processing AP documents from $25 per invoice to less than $5 per invoice,” said Bartels in the article. “No matter how effectively a manual AP process may be structured, you can’t move this type of information around in an analog fashion and approach the results generated when the information is digitized.”
